Blog: DPRK demands S. Korea accept revised contracts on joint venture

Published by admin under news

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) demanded that South Korea accept its revised version of contracts on the Kaesong Joint Industrial Complex, the KCNA news agency reported Friday.

South Korea has “got the biggest profits from the industrial park from a political, economic and military point of view,” said the DPRK at government-level talks with South Korea on the joint industrial park.

“If the south side truly wishes to see the complex operating on a stable basis, it should affirmatively accept the issues and innovative proposals put forward by the north side and positively respond to them,” the KCNA reported.

The DPRK also blasted South Korea for fully participating in the U.S.-led Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) and “zealously joining” in the sanctions against the DPRK, which was intended to undermine the industrial park, said the report.

Blog: DPRK newspaper: Enforcing UN resolution means war

Published by admin under news

If South Korea enforced a UN Security Council resolution against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), “it would mean a war,” a commentary carried by the Rodong Sinmun daily said Saturday.

The article, titled “Participating in ‘Sanctions’ Will Draw Disaster,” said South Korea enforcing the UN resolution was a “severe provocative action against the DPRK.”

It warned that the DPRK will “mercilessly retaliate the intruder,” if South Korea “infringed upon the sovereignty of the DPRK” by the pretext of enforcing the UN resolution.

The UN Security Council last Friday unanimously approved wider sanctions against the DPRK over its May 25 nuclear test.

The resolution banned all weapons exports from the DPRK and most arms imports into the country. It authorized UN member states to inspect the DPRK’s sea, air and land cargo, requiring them to seize and destroy any goods transported in violation of the sanctions
